For Bobbie Heinen, popcorn is more than a snack, it has become a way to connect with residents, teammates and visitors at St. Joseph Village (SJV), the community she has called home for the past ten years. It’s also the reason she is affectionately known as the “Popcorn Lady.”
Bobbie’s granddaughter, Abbie, often joins her at the community’s popcorn maker and helps serve popcorn while the two spend quality time together.
“It’s not as much about making popcorn as it is socializing with all the residents and being with my grandma,” Abbie says.
Bobbie’s popcorn stand has become a gathering place for residents and visitors to chat and enjoy a freshly popped snack. And for those who can’t make it downstairs, Bobbie and Abbie bring the popcorn to them, a delivery service Bobbie jokingly calls her own “SJV DoorDash.”
Through every kernel and conversation, Bobbie and Abbie are making memories while spreading a little extra joy across the SJV community.
